Music Made Visible is a small partner-dance community based in Victoria, BC. We collect only the personal information we reasonably need to keep people informed about our gatherings, classes, events and occasional dance or music updates.
Information you choose to give us
If you sign up for email updates, we collect your email address and the types of updates you choose to receive
Our mailing-list system may also record information connected with your subscription, such as when and how you signed up, confirmation and unsubscribe status, and the IP address used when signing up or confirming your subscription. This information helps us manage subscriptions and keep a record of consent.
If you contact us directly by email, we will also receive the information you choose to include in your message.
How we use your information
We use your information to send the updates you have requested, confirm and manage your subscription, notify you of relevant schedule changes or events, respond to messages you send us, and maintain the security and reliability of the website and mailing list.
Our email system may record whether an email was opened or a link in an email was clicked. We use this information to understand whether our emails are useful and to maintain the mailing list. We do not use browser-based advertising or behavioural marketing tracking on the Music Made Visible website.
Email service
We use MailPoet to manage subscriptions and send email. Information needed to operate the mailing list is processed through MailPoet and its service providers.
MailPoet and some of its service providers may process or store information outside Canada. Information processed in another country may be subject to the laws of that country.
We do not sell your personal information or provide our mailing list to other organizations for their marketing.
Website hosting and technical information
Like most websites, our web server and hosting provider may automatically record basic technical information when the site is accessed, such as an IP address, browser information, requested pages, and the date and time of a request. This information may be used for security, troubleshooting and operation of the website.
Embedded content
Some pages contain embedded media from third-party services such as Spotify or YouTube. When you load or interact with embedded content, those services may receive technical information about your visit and may use cookies or similar technologies according to their own privacy policies.
Music Made Visible does not control the privacy practices of those third-party services.
Cookies and tracking
Music Made Visible does not currently use advertising trackers or site-wide behavioural analytics cookies.
WordPress, our hosting infrastructure and embedded third-party services may use cookies or similar technologies where necessary to provide their features. Embedded services may have their own tracking practices.
If we add site analytics, advertising technology or other tracking tools in the future, we will update this policy and introduce consent controls where appropriate.
How long we keep information
We keep personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described above, including maintaining subscription and consent records and meeting legal or operational requirements.
Unconfirmed mailing-list subscriptions are automatically removed after 30 days. You can unsubscribe from email at any time using the unsubscribe link in any email.
We may retain a limited record of an unsubscribe or withdrawn consent so that we can respect that choice and avoid sending unwanted email.
Your choices and access to your information
You can change your email preferences or unsubscribe at any time using the links in our emails.
You may also contact us to ask what personal information we hold about you, request a correction, or ask us to delete information that we no longer need to retain.
